Margaret ROGERS was born circa 1839 in Llanwinio, Carmarthenshire, Wales. In 1864 she married the Reverend Griffith JONES, Presbyterian Minister. The family migrated to New Zealand in 1883, seeking a warmer climate for health reasons. Griffith Jones took up a charge as minister at Waipū Presbyterian Church.
Margaret was 54-years-old when she signed the Women’s Suffrage petition at Waipū in 1893 with her daughter Esther Rogers ‘Ettie’ Jones.
Griffith Jones died in Waipū in May 1901 and is buried at Purewa Cemetery, Tāmaki Makarau Auckland. Margaret died on 23 November 1912 at Manukau Road, Parnell, Auckland and is buried at Purewa Cemetery.
