Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Margaret Hope was born in 1867 in Lancashire, England – the daughter of Walter Hope and Mary Livsey.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the Gareloch and they settled in North Otago.
Margaret married John Park, a blacksmith, in 1889 and they had eight children, one who died in infancy.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living at Duntroon.
In 1905 John was declared insolvent.
A couple of years later the family appears to have emigrated to South Africa.
