Margaret was born about 1836 in Scotland.
She married to Adam Scott, a prison warder. They had at least four sons in New Zealand from 1867 to 1878.
When she signed the suffrage petition, Margaret was living in Castle St, Dunedin.
Adam died in 1908. Margaret died on 4 February 1914. They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
