Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Margaret Gaw was born on 10 May 1859 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of Samuel Gaw, a weaver’s agent, and Margaret Hood.
The family emigrated to Otago around 1868 and Samuel farmed in South Otago.
Margaret married Francis Joseph Sullivan in 1890. They had two children and also had an adopted son.
Francis was a fish salesman who had built up a large business – when he died in 1914 his estate included eight fishing boats and a manufacturing plant.
Margaret died on 14 February 1934. She is buried with Francis in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
