Margaret Henry was born about 1836 in the Shetland Islands, Scotland.
She came to New Zealand and married widower and farmer John Sutherland on 20 July 1883 in the Clutha Parish.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living at Riverside, Port Molyneux.
John died at their home in Balclutha in 1915 and Margaret died on 3 February 1923, they are buried with John’s first wife in the Balclutha Old Cemetery.
