Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Margaret Jamieson was born in New Zealand in 1861- the daughter of William Jamieson and Isabella Cruickshank.
Her father died in 1864 and the following year her mother married James Scott, a carrier.
Margaret married Charles William Wilkinson, a carpenter, on 23 March 1883 at her parent’s house in Frederick St, Dunedin.
They had one daughter and, when Margaret signed the suffrage petition, the family were living in Hanover St, Dunedin.
In March 1908 they celebrated their silver wedding anniversary with a function at the Dundas St Primitive Methodist Church, 130 relatives and friends 'spent a very pleasant evening'.
Charles died in 1924 and Margaret died on 30 May 1939. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
