Margaret Leask was born in 1866 in Banffshire, Scotland – the daughter of Alexander Leask, a commercial traveller, and Mary Wilson.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the “Timaru” and they settled in Dunedin.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Lambeth Road.
She married John Bell Finlayson on 9 January 1894 in Dunedin - they lived in Auckland and had four children.
Margaret died on 8 July 1909 and John died in 1927 – they are buried together in the Purewa Cemetery.
