Margaret Lock Scott was born in 1857 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire in Scotland – the daughter of John Scott, a calico printer, and Jessie Riddell. (See 67 Jessie Scott)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Mairi Bhan and they settled in Dunedin.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living in the family home in Melbourne St, South Dunedin.
She did not marry and she died at her home on 19 May 1951 – she is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
