Margaret Elizabeth Henderson Gilchrist was born in New Zealand in 1864 – the daughter of Daniel Gilchrist, an accountant, and Margaret Elizabeth Henderson.
She married Robert Ashworth Crawshaw, a clerk, on 9 October 1884 at her parent’s home.
They had seven children and lived in Dunedin.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she gave her address as Castle St although the family were living in Duncan St at the time.
Robert died in 1924 and Margaret died on 16 November 1928. They are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
