Maria Lydia Page was born on 18 November 1838 in Hobart, Australia – the daughter of William and Maria Page.
She married, grocer, George Davie on 13 December 1853 in Hobart and they had eight children before the family moved to Dunedin in the 1870s.
They had a further four children in Dunedin, two who died in infancy, and when Maria signed the suffrage petition they were living in Stuart Street.
Maria died at her home on 29 July 1919 and George died at their daughter’s home in Invercargill in 1921 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
