Marion Waldie Wright was born on March 23rd1857 in Leith, Edinburghshire – the daughter of Alexander Wright, a cooper, and Margaret Simpson. 

She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the Soukar and she married George Hepburn, a fitter, in 1879. 

They had four children and when Marion signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Fox Street, South Dunedin. 

Marion died in the Dunedin Hospital on 27 September 1899 and George died in 1937 in Christchurch – they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
