Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Marion Steele was born about 1861.

She married labourer Thomas McFadden on 30 September 1881 in the North Taieri parish.

They had four children and when Marion signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Mosgiel, south of Dunedin.

They later moved to Dunedin where Thomas died in 1920 and Marion died on 14 December 1931 – they are buried in the family grave in the East Taieri Cemetery.
