Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Marjory Todd Lindsay was born about 1844 in Strathmartine, Angus, Scotland – the daughter of Andrew Lindsay, a jute merchant, and Margaret Cox.

She emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860’s and she married William John Prictor, a shoemaker, on 17 August 1869 in Dunedin.

They had four children and when Marjory signed the suffrage petition the family were living in North East Valley, Dunedin and William was now working as a stationer.

Marjory died at her home on 23 October 1921 and William died in 1931 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
