Martha was born about 1852, she was married to Alexander McHutchon, a railway employee.
They had five children and when Martha signed the suffrage petition the family was living at Macandrew Road, South Dunedin.
Martha and Alexander moved to Hastings about 1914.
Alexander died in April 1939 and Martha died on 24 August 1939. They are buried together in the Havelock North Cemetery.
