Martha Scott was born in New Zealand in 1865 – the daughter of John Coats Scott, a farmer, and Rachel Annan.
Martha married Joseph Passmore, a rope manufacturer, at her family home in Burnside on 30 July 1886. They had five children and lived in Bradshaw St, South Dunedin.
Joseph died in 1894 at the age of 40 and Martha died on 4 December 1928. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
