Mary Ann Walker married Thomas Eden in 1876. Thomas was a farmer from Clive in Hawkes Bay who also farmed in Marumaru near Frasertown in the 1890s.
Mary A Walker was on the passenger list for the ship the Invererne which arrived in Hawkes Bay in 1874. Her age was given as 36 years and her occupation as 'Matron'. There is an age discrepancy with other records and if this is Mary Ann, it is possible she was older.
Mary Ann Eden was on the 1893 Electoral Roll as married and living in Marumaru. The Edens do not appear to have any children although Thomas’s will refers to two daughters who may have been children cared for by the couple - Annie Holgarth Workman and Elizabeth Mercy.
Mary Ann and Thomas lived until 1920 when they died four months apart. Both were in their nineties and were buried in Park Island Cemetery in Napier.
