Mary McNicol was born in 1863 in New Zealand – the daughter of Alexander McNicol, a sailmaker, and Wilhelmina Cunningham.
She grew up in Lawrence where she married Alexander Blair, a sailmaker, on 5 January 1892 at her parents’ home and where she signed the suffrage petition.
Mary and Alexander had four children.
Alexander died in 1926 and Mary died on 6 August 1955 in Lawrence – they are buried together in the Lawrence Cemetery.
