Mary Ann Conroy was born in 1869, the eldest child of Catherine Winifred Conroy and Mortoch Conroy. Catherine also signed this Sheet of the Petition.

So proud to discover that my great grandmother Mary Ann Conroy (1869-1945) signed this important petition and in the year she gave birth to my grandfather Albert Lawrence Conroy (1893-1975).. Interesting that her son took the Conroy name but frustrating, in that it now poses an extremely difficult task in determining my grandfather’s paternity. Perhaps there is a clue in his given names as they appear to be different than what is in the list of Conroy and Meehan names. Mary Ann’s mother Catherine, was the eldest daughter of Michael and Nancy Ann Meehan.
Mary Ann went on to marry Abraham Laird, (1870-1957) in 1901. In Whanganui.
