Mary Mason was born about 1843 in Liverpool, England – the daughter of John Mason, a clerk, and Hannah Ellison.
She married Thomas Barron Conway, a sailor, in 1868 in Liverpool – they do not appear to have had any children.
They came to New Zealand in the mid 1870’s and settled in Dunedin.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition they were living in Clyde Avenue, off St David Street in North Dunedin.
Mary died at her home on 4 August 1912 and Thomas died in 1914 – they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
