Mary Emslie Cruickshank was born about 1845 in Aberdeen, Scotland – the daughter of Robert Cruickshank, a grocer, and Helen Kirkland.
She married Alexander Milne Dalrymple, a Presbyterian minister, in 1878 in Aberdeen.
They lived in Staffordshire & Warwickshire in England where their three children were born before the family sailed for New Zealand about 1885.
Alexander took charge of the Presbyterian Church in Puerua where Mary signed the suffrage petition.
When Alexander retired they moved to Dunedin where Mary died on 9 July 1915.
Alexander died in 1928, they are buried with their daughters in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
