Mary Strang was born about 1852 in Scotland.
She arrived in New Zealand about 1874 & married John Henderson, a tailor, on 20 August 1875 in Dunedin.
They had, at least, six children - two of who were stillborn.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Harcourt St, Belleknowes, Dunedin.
John died in 1919 and Mary died at her home on 13 July 1927, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
