Mary Jane Thompson was born about 1849.
She was married to John Thompson and they had, at least, four children, one who died in infancy.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition the family was living in Ngapara in North Otago.
Mary died at her home on 14 October 1909 and John died in Oamaru in 1930.
They are buried together in the Georgetown Cemetery.
