Mary McCallum was born about 1834 in Rothesay, Bute, Scotland – the daughter of Archibald McCallum, a farmer, and Christian McKellar.
She married John McInnes, a carter, on 26 December 1861 in Rothesay and they had six children, one who died in childhood.
The family emigrated to Otago in 1883 on the Caroline and they settled in Milton where Mary signed the suffrage petition.
John died in 1912 and Mary died at her home on 9 June 1918, they are buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
