Mary Ann McKenzie was born in 1869 in New Zealand, the daughter of Alexander McKenzie and Christina Fletcher.
Mary grew up in Port Chalmers, near Dunedin, before moving to Waikouaiti with her family where she signed the suffrage petition.
In the late 1890s the family moved back to Port Chalmers where she married John Horn, a railway guard, in 1897.
They had four children and lived in Dunedin. Mary died at their home on November 14th 1937 and John died in 1948.
They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
