Mary Ann was born around 1841 in St Agnes, Corwall, England. She married Richard Mugford but then was married for a second time to William Moses. It was his second marriage also. Together they had one son, William John Moses who was born before they immigrated to New Zealand. Mary Ann died 16 August 1925, aged 84.
