Biography contributed by Malcolm Law

Mary Parlane, nee Harrison, 1842-1929, was the daughter of Thomas Harrison, a weaver of Chryston, Lanarkshire, Scotland and Janet Stark. They migrated to Otago in 1848 on the Blundell, settling in Dunedin until Thomas established a farm in East Taieri.

Mary married James Parlane, a farmer, in 1865. They settled at Tokoiti near Milton, where they lived the rest of their lives except for a trip to Sydney in 1876-77 when one of their daughters was born. They had eleven children.

Mary was buried at East Taieri Cemetery, Mosgiel.
