Mary Sutherland was born about 1843, possibly in Scotland. 

On December 24th 1866 she married Henry Delahoyde Parsons, a labourer, in Oamaru.

They moved to Sawyers Bay, near Port Chalmers where they ran a dairy farm & they had 7 children.

Around 1883 they moved into Dunedin and when Mary signed the suffrage petition they were living in Gordon Street, South Dunedin.

At this time Henry was gold mining near Roxburgh. He died at their home in South Dunedin in 1906 and Mary died on October 13th 1913.

They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
