Mary Ellen Courtney was born about 1869.
She married carter Alfred Pitchers in 1886 in New Zealand and they had one son.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Dundas Street, Dunedin.
In 1898 the family moved to Western Australia where Mary died on 22 February 1918.
Alfred died in 1929 – they are buried together in the Karrakatta Cemetery.
