Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Mary Easen was born about 1843.

She married Charles Rattray, a master mariner and widower, in 1881 in New Zealand.

Charles died in the Southland hospital in 1885 -  in his will he left his estate to his son living in Arbroath, Scotland.

Mary lived in Bluff where she signed the suffrage petition – she died on 31 August 1931 and is buried in the Bluff Cemetery.

In her will she left her estate to her two 'granddaughters' – the daughters of Annie Fuller. (See 341 Annie Brazier-Creagh)
