Mary Sinclair was born in 1867 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Sinclair and Janet Christie.
At the age of 15 she married George Woods on 13 June 1882 in Dunedin.
Their daughter was born later that year followed by three sons.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Melbourne St, South Dunedin.
They later lived in Stirling and Timaru before retiring to Dunedin where Mary died on 26 October 1949 and George died the following year .
They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
