Alice Masters was born in 1868 in Northumberland, England – the daughter of Richard Littlejohn Masters, a coal miner, and Ann Fulford. (See 246 A Shellard

She emigrated to Marlborough with her family in 1876 on the Camperdown and they settled in Grey Valley. 

Alice signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth. 

She married Arthur Thomas Boddy, a moulder, on 10 August 1898 and they had five daughters. 

Arthur died in 1945 and Alice died on 10 July 1955 – they are buried together in the Karoro Cemetery.
