Alice Maule was the eldest daughter of Eliza Payne (nee Dorling) and John Payne of Lower Brailes, Warwickshire in Birmingham.
Eliza and John came to New Zealand on the Lancashire Witch – landing in Auckland in June 1865, but then moving down to Rangiora, where their 10 children were born. Alice was visiting from Wellington when she signed the petition with her mother in 1893.
Alice died in 1940.
