Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

May Bryant was born about 1855, possibly in New Zealand.

May married Henry Lucas St George Hamilton, a clerk, on 3 November 1876 in Invercargill and they had two daughters.

They lived at Mataura Bridge then in Bluff where May signed the suffrage petition.

In 1926 Henry was found dead in the waiting room of the Bluff railway station – an inquest found 'that deceased shot himself with a small-calibre rifle.'

May died on 6 September 1928, she is buried with Henry in the Bluff Cemetery.
