Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Mildred Annie Willis Taylor was born in 1870 in Highworth, England – the daughter of Ann Taylor. (See 40 Anne Willis)

Mildred’s mother married Alfred Willis in 1872 and it would appear that he is Mildred’s father.

The family emigrated to Otago in 1878 on the Piako and they settled in Milton in South Otago.

Sometime after Alfred’s death the family moved to Dunedin. Mildred signed the suffrage petition in Grosvenor St, Kensington where her family was living  although the electoral roll shows her residence as George St, Dunedin.

She did not marry and she died at her home in South Dunedin on 3 December 1939 – she is buried with her family in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
