Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Wilhelmina/Mina Eckhoff was born in 1871 in Dunedin – the daughter of Jacob Eckhoff, a master mariner, and Isabella Scott Napier. (See 175 Mrs Isabella Eckhoff)

When Wilhelmina signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother in Queen Street.

She married William John Watson, a stockbroker, on 23 April 1896 at All Saint’s Church in Dunedin and they had two sons.

Wilhelmina died at her home on 31 January 1938 and William died in 1943 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
