Biographical information provided for by Sarah Hewitt for the He Tohu exhibition:
Eva Elizabeth Peacock was born in 1867 in Meanee to James Peacock (1834-1922), a sheep farmer and his wife Margaret Helen Sangster Morison (1847-1935).
Her mother signed above her on the Suffrage Petition and her sister Isa signed below.
Eva was apparently a diligent student as in December 1881 won Mr Brandon's prize (a gold sovereign for 'the best progress') and the Standard IV - First Prize at the Meanee school.
The 1893 Electoral Roll lists her as a music teacher still living in Meanee, Napier with her parents. Subsequent Electoral Rolls only list her as 'spinster' but have her living at Lighthouse Road, Napier in 1911 and St Joseph Street, Waipukurau in 1925.
Eva died on 28 August 1952 at Waipukurau, aged 85, having never married (two days before her sister Isa).
Eva's will lists her occupation as retired nurse. She includes a special bequest of her Hoover electric vacuum cleaner to the wife of her nephew Rex Witherow.
