Margaret Colquhoun was born in 1854 in Lanarkshire, Scotland – the daughter of William Colquhoun and Janet Paterson.
She married James Graham Adair, a carpenter, in Tradeston in 1873 and shortly after their marriage they emigrated to New Zealand.
They settled in Dunedin and had 10 children, one who died in infancy.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Regent St, South Dunedin.
James died in 1924 and Margaret died on 4 January 1934 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
