Agnes Thomson was born about 1849. She married William Gunn, a shepherd, in 1875 in New Zealand and they had eight children.

The family lived at Hyde in Central Otago before moving to Dunedin in the late 1880s.

When Agnes signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Castle St.

Agnes died in the Dunedin Hospital on 13 July 1904 and William died in 1911. They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
