Mary Ann Fried was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Friend and Ann Cunningham.
She married Alexander Dryden, a sawmiller, in 1892 and they had six children.
When Mary signed the suffrage petition they were living in Colac Bay in Southland.
Mary died on 17 May 1934 and Alexander died in 1941 – they are buried together in the Riverton Cemetery.
