Agnes Templeton was born about 1841 in Ayrshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Templeton, a letter carrier, & Agnes.
She married William Alexander, a bootmaker, on January 9th 1861 in Paisley, Renfrewshire & they had a son before the family emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860’s.
They had a further 6 children after their arrival, 2 who died in infancy.
The family settled, at first, in Port Chalmers before moving to Dunedin where Agnes signed the suffrage petition in Leith Street.
Alexander died in 1907 & Agnes died on September 11th 1911, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
