Mrs Alfred Ottley was born Louisa Ann Hoare on 26 January 1868, in Witney, Oxfordshire, England to Thomas Hoare and his wife Elizabeth Keene.

On 27 April 1889 Louisa married Alfred George Ottley in Waimate.

Louisa and Alfred had four children.

The 1911 electoral roll records the family living in Princess street, Waimate. In 1925 they had moved to 35 Manse street, Waimate.

Alfred Ottley died on 20 April 1936, age 68 years and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery, in Plot 74. His occupation was Drover

In 1941 Louisa Ottley was living in King street, Waimate.

Louisa Ottley died on 23 April 1941, age 72 years and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery, Methodist section, Plot 73, next to her husband.

Louisa’s Mother-in-Law, Ellen Mary Ottley [Mrs Ruben Ottley] also signed the Women’s Suffrage Petition Sheet 233.
