Barbara Murray was born on 25 January 1870 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of John Murray, a warehouseman, and Barbara McDonald.
The family emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Parsee.
Barbara married Edward Lockstone, an expressman, in 1890. They had six children and, when Barbara signed the suffrage petition, they were living in Castle St, Dunedin.
Edward died in 1954 and is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
Barbara died on 17 September 1964, she was cremated & her ashes were scattered.
