Elizabeth Donaldson was born on 9 March 1869 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of Richard Russell Donaldson and Elizabeth Wilson. (See 160 Elizabeth Donaldson)
Soon after her birth Elizabeth emigrated to Otago with her parents, they settled in Dunedin.
She attended Arthur St School and the family lived in Rattray St.
She married Barrett Rutledge, a policeman, in 1890 and they had four children.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Beach Rd, Napier, in the 1900s they moved to Wellington then later to Auckland.
Barrett died in Auckland in 1917 and Elizabeth died on 13 October 1936. They are buried together in the Waikaraka Cemetery, Auckland.
