Beatrice Hood was born on 19 January 1855 in Roxburghshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Ramage Hood, a tailor, and Eliza Gilchrist.
She emigrated to Otago with her family on the Strathallan arriving in January 1858.
Beatrice married Frederick John Scoble, a bootmaker, on 27 March 1878 at St Paul’s Church, Dunedin.
They had eight children and when Beatrice signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Frederick St, Dunedin.
Frederick died in Christchurch Hospital in 1916, he is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.
Beatrice died on 3 January 1920 in Dunedin, she is buried in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
