Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Adelaide Esther Marie was born about 1853. She married Robert Barnes, an asphalter, in 1874.

They had eight children. When Adelaide signed the suffrage petition, the family were living in Clarendon St, Dunedin.

Robert died in September 1900. The following month, Adelaide married George Goddard Bremner, a wool classer. Adelaide and George later moved to Gisborne.

Adelaide died in Napier on 14 February 1948 and George died in 1968. They are buried in the Hastings Cemetery.
