Emily Elizabeth Fleury was born in New Zealand in 1855, the daughter of George Lewis Fleury and Harriet Kedie Jennings.
Emily married Edward Wilkinson Bezett in 1873. They had eight children. They first lived in Oamaru, where their 5-year-old daughter died in 1879, before moving to St Kilda in Dunedin.
Edward died in 1920 and Emily died on 18 June 1940. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
