Mrs Bickerstaff is my great great grandmother. She was born Mary Elizabeth Freeman ( known as Lizzie). She was born on 16 Jan 1856 in Bootle, Liverpool, England. She married Robert Bickerstaff 25 Dec 1875 at St Mary's Church, Edge Hill, Liverpool, England. They had 5 children before they migrated to NZ on the SS Westland which departed from Plymouth 11 Aug 1883 arriving in Wellington 31 Oct 1883. They then travelled to Napier where they joined Robert's father George Herbert. Lizzie then had a further 6 children. Sadly she died on 20 Jan 1907 at the age of 51 in a diabetic coma.
