Mary Julia (known as Julia) Wedlake was born in Roche, Cornwall in 1860 – the daughter of Miriam Wedlake. (See 82 M W Thomas)
Julia’s mother emigrated to Otago in 1872 and Julia followed in 1874 on the Asia accompanied by her three cousins.
She married William Bloy, a widower with a daughter and a butcher, in 1878 and they had seven children.
When Julia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Lawrence, Central Otago.
They retired to Dunedin in the 1900s where Julia died on 21 May 1914.
William died in 1922, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
