The family bought Mt Bossu Station at Wainui on the Akaroa Harbour in 1902.
John died in 1909 and Caroline died on April 9th 1934 – she is buried with John in the Akaroa Cemetery.
Her obituary said she,
had lived a retired life for many years, but she was always greatly interested in horticulture and had an excellent collection of trees from all over the world.
