Sarah Cunliffe was born about 1837 in Manchester, England.
She married Robert Pedder Buddicom, a coal merchant, on 13 August 1857 in Manchester and they had 10 children before the family emigrated to Otago in 1879 on the Otaki.
They settled in Dunedin and when Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Caversham in South Dunedin.
Sarah died at her home on 25 October 1912 and Robert died in 1914 – they are buried in the family grave in the Green Island Cemetery.
